Disney birds
I deal with my visa problem the Thai way. I don’t think about it. Denial is bliss.
I browse my “Learn Malay” book. Strangely the language doesn’t rub off when I hold the book in my hands. What do I have to do? Study for the 2,000 hours wise men say it takes to learn a new language? Not fair.
We have more mouths to feed in The Mansion. A couple of pigeons have nested on the balcony where one of our air condition units are. I heard the chicks for a while, and now I can see them too. They are quite big. They come out from under the air condition unit to get some sun and look at the world. So far they think the world is about four square metres. They probably discuss if there is anything on the other side of the white walls, with one of them arguing that the universe is large enough as it is, and the other one saying this is a pigeon-centric view.
It must be noisy under there when the air condition runs. I am a nice person but not so nice that I want to sweat just to they can enjoy themselves. I never invited them, they don’t pay rent, and in any case they have not complained.
I am glad the previous maid isn’t here. She would have chased them off with a broom, birds and eggs and chicks and all.
There are two chicks. The largest one is pecking on the smaller one, harassing it. The small one looks annoyed and tired. Is this the famous pecking order? I don’t accept such primitive behaviour. I will put a television out on the balcony so they can see Disney movies and learn how birds and animals are supposed to behave.
Chalerm has finished a report at school and he looks happy. I have sniffed the report. I can’t read it since it is in Thai but since they used wedding paper to print it the odour is nice.
The report involved several visits to some province in the east, and group dynamics where Chalerm and a girl ended up doing most of the work for ten other people.
Head count. Today we had two guests, one Thai gay boy and one ladyboy. We now have a saltwater aquarium, a freshwater aquarium, and two turtles in a bucket. We have four computers, two of which are in use. We have five cameras, of which three are digital. The apartment has two residents, and one of them must leave Thailand within three weeks. We are 13 days behind with the rent.
Everything is as usual in The Mansion.

here is my two satang worth opinion about learning malay. If you come to malaysia ignore the thin chinese boys, take instead the brown malay boys and your proficiency will improve in no time at all.
selamat berjaya, or “chok dee”.
