I am using the Internet from a hospital in Bangkok. I am waiting for my eye operation, which is in two hours.
I had postponed fixing this “cancer” eyelid lump long enough. When the eye doc said he could do the surgey this afternoon I said yes, ok. And he said 20 000 baht please.

My Macintosh computer fell ill yesterday. First it stopped halfway through startup, and I managed to open the CD drive which was stuck, but after a while it went dead. Now there is no reaction at all. The screen is black and there are no sounds or lights or anything, regardless of what I do, and I have applied some quite strong language to it’s face.
The computer is from 2002. What is it worth? Five thousand baht, maybe? I don’t know if I want to spend money repairing it. Maybe I should get a new one.
No, I don’t have the money for a new computer and not for the eye surgery either. Enter my friend the credit card. He is like a pimp. He charges too much and I don’t really like him but I can’t resist his offer.

The doctors think I am too dim to understand what they are doing in this hospital. But I know. The Arab guy who is sitting behind me has paid half a million baht for my organs. I shall scream and grab my kidneys and say I am an undercover reporter from the BBC.
If I survive I will post something tomorrow.

SF,
Take care of yourself and why not reward yourself with a new computer?
Just lower Chalerms allowance and tell him that because he is never around you have had to purchase another lover…a computer!

Hope all goes well at the hospital Silom
You seem to be on a run of bad luck at the moment.
Maybe we should all send you some collective ‘good karma’.
Ready boys?
Altogether now…
“Ahummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm”
There! Things should start to improve from now

All the best.

All the best with your surgery, S.F. Speedy and comfortable recovery too.

Yes, we wish for your speedy recovery. Is there a computer hospital near you? How about a relationship hospital? My theory is that everything can be fixed.

Good luck with the surgery, dude. Hope all goes well.

Good luck with the surgery. I hope you are at Bumrungrad or BCH or similar where the standards are good.
As for the laptop, ditch it. It isn’t worth repairing. As a minimum the hadrdrive is stuffed.
But all the other functions (eg. connectivity) is yesterday’s technology.
Shop Pantip and some of the outer shopping malls and you should be able to find something at a reasonable price … maybe even new.
Best wishes, Yraen.

Hey Silom:
A friend (more of a casual acquaintance, really) told me that surgery was like exercise, not very much fun but necessary to keep things in good working order. I didn’t find it a whole lot of help either. For what its worth, you and your credit card are in my prayers for a full recovery.
all the best,

I suspect the problem with your Mac is the power supply. Probably you’ve been feeding it on-again off-again brown out Thai juice without any kind of protection and it’s shot.
Five year old computers are basically worthless. Cannibalize it for parts.

Would that be Bumrungrad?

Gee, SF,
“Anonymous” and I wished you the same thing!
Weird!
