Boyfriend management

Oops

I must talk to Chalerm about the saltwater aquarium. I don’t want to see more fish go belly-up or having to fork out money to buy new ones every two weeks.

Chalerm doesn’t want my advice. If I try to tell him what to do he refuses to believe me, or he says something silly such as “I want all fish die”.

Farang N asked how Chalerm ran the aquarium. Did he measure salinity, ph and temperature? Or did he hope for luck?

Chalerm is Thai. He hopes for luck.

Chalerm should get a book about how to maintain a saltwater aquarium. But to read books is un-Thai. I don’t know if he would read it even if he found such a book.

Chalerm bought the saltwater aquarium while I was away. He had not asked me about it. He wanted to surprise me. I hinted that saltwater was much harder than freshwater, but I don’t think it registered. In any case the aquarium was already here, in our living room.

But it can’t continue like this. He must maintain the tank in a responsible manner or quit.

Maybe there is a picture book that visually shows how to care for a salt water aquarium. But to be honest, why did I anticipate that the new aquarium was a disaster in the making?

Another Thai thing is never to ask anyone for help in a retail or professional setting, so combined with desiring luck to prevail.. it is doomed by your bad farang luck. Hey at least they make good fish burgers!

Chatuhak has a new book store on fish, next to JJ mart, all the books are in Thai but it seems to me that the time has come to put an end to this latest adventure unless your willing to buy some expensive equipment and do it yourself.

I do my own, the BF helps me but thinks I am ting-tong that I have to test the water.

Hmm…Methinks friend Christian has a cunning plan! Seriously though, I believe that may be a great opportunity to reduce boyfriend management stress…As a former VLP (Very Lazy Person) I know that Chalerm’s resistance to good advice comes from a lack of confidence…help him to do a bit, lots of pats on back…Voila! Newly competent (and pround of it) Thaiboy!

  7. JC IN USA Says:

the next instuctional book should be on how to prepare the world’s most expensive sushi….
