Big place, Indo
A couple of times I told people in Jakarta that I was gay. A group of youths were outside McDonald’s and a girl said:
- Hey, I saw you here before. What do you like? Boys or girls?
- Up to me.
- Haha! You must like boys!
- It is secret.
- You want a boy? We have boys!

The place to be at 5 am
Friday morning at 1 am. The morning flight seemed like a good idea at the time. But now I could not sleep knowing I had to get up at such an ungodly hour.
3.30 am. Get out of bed. Shower. Kiss Chalerm goodbye. Give him money to last while I was away.
4.10 am Catch a taxi.
4.50 am Arrive at Snakepit Airport. Stand in line. A long line. Get nasty stares from a Fat White Cow (French) and her husband.
5.20 am Check in. Almost denied because I was “late”.
6.00 am Take off.
9.20 am Arrive in Jakarta.

Sunee Plaza
Reading about the shooting in Sunee Plaza I wanted to see a map of this (in)famous gay area in Pattaya. This one is good and it looks up to date. It is written in Foreignish but this is all the German vocabulary you need to read it:
Empfehlung = recommended (in yellow letters)
Geschlossen = closed (in red letters)
Other establishments are in black. The stars given should be self-explanatory.

The Village People
This is a report from last weekend. I spent Saturday night in the grip of Malaysian gay nightlife. My dazzling looks and charming personality made the boys chase me and I had to beat them off with sticks. This happens in every country I go to.
It started when I sat on a bench in a shopping centre. A young man in his late 20s came and sat down next to me. My gaydar said beep. The young man said hello.

Malaysia by night
As usual the boys could not resist me. I am cursed by my dazzling looks and all that.
As usual gorgeous guys half my age chased me around, and as usual it broke their hearts when I told them I had a boyfriend in Bangkok.

I met another young Lao boy. He was sitting by the fountain, the cruising spot in Vientiane. I will call him Fashion Boy, because that was what he was.
Fashion Boy was happy to talk to me in Thai. His way of dressing, his hair and his makeup made him about as straight as Richie Stringini. He was good looking and as with many Laotians I thought he appeared more Vietnamese than Isaan.
- Do you want me to show you around? asked Fashion Boy.
- To where?
- The disco.
- Let me think about it.

To go from Udon Thani to Laos:
1. Take a tuk-tuk to the bus station in Udon. 30 baht.
2. Find the bus to Nong Khai. Only if you have a Lao visa already can you take the bus direct to Laos. Most people don’t have a visa. 48 baht.

I saw some gay boys in Udon Thani. Some were hairdressers, and one worked in a flower shop. I also saw some ladyboys go by on motorbikes. I waved to them.
I went to the park by sunset, and bought syrup pancakes from the guy at the entrance. I did not spot any gay life.

My first time
I am planning my trip to Laos. This will be my first time to Isaan, and to the city of Udon Thani. A lot of the boys in Pattaya are from Udon Thani and next time I can tell them that I have been there. The boys speak highly of Udon Thani.

Thai Immigration received a new computer system worth millions of dollars from the Americans recently. This was so Thailand could keep track of shady people.
I consider myself as fairly shady.
