A minor point of correction: Allen isn’t the moderator of the Gay-Thailand board, he’s the founder of the Pattayagay.com a must read website for newbies and until he took it offline, the moderator of that board.
He remained the driving force behind the Weekly Report, a well written and researched weekly update on the goings-on in Sodom-by-the Sea.
Regardless, his efforts are hugely respected and there is no doubt that he is a senior statesman who, everyone hopes, is only in need of some short term assistance from the community he helps to glue together.

Thank you for the correction.

Mr. Briggs was a civil servant in California for over 30 years. As such he recived 30×2.2% of final salary for life with certain cost of living factors built in. His salary as City Attorney for Cathedral City was in excess of 80,000 dollars. You do the math. Not exactly a financial invalid. He also sold real property in Cat City prior to moving to Pattaya. He probably clears Baht 150000 per month. You want to send money to real charities try Doctors without borders in Lao PDR or the SOS village in Battambang. In Lao PDR when I was there over 25 head injuries a week from motorcycle accidents. Sorry Allen is over 80. Help orpans who are 10 in cambodia or donate some money to Aki Rais landmine Museum in Seim Reip. Lister to Touy explain how he had his foot blown off and his three friends died when a “pineapple” device went off as they were examining it. Let’s help real deparation not upper middle class wealthy foreigners (Allen inevitably has partial payment of medical expenses from his government positions. He has resourses. Yes he has done some charity work. So what. Raise money for real causes like abolishing land mines or helping Burmese refugees in Northern Thailand. I realize that this probably will not get posted but there is another side of this story. Just wanted to inform you. So don’t cry too hard.
