Faulty Towers

air-condition.jpg

The aircondition in the main bedroom is out of order again.

When I complained to building management they sent a couple of new guys. The new guys smiled that Thai smile which means they are cheating but hope nobody will notice. They did nothing, decared they had fixed it, and left.

I complained again. The two imposters came back, milled around for a while and left. I could still not get cool air.

Once more I complained to the management. The combined janitor, engineer and security guard came. He turned on the air condition, decided it was good enough and left. I was getting annoyed.

Then the air condition unit began shutting itself down. It did so three times in a night. I got up and turned it back on max. A little cooling is better than no cooling.

This continued for 48 hours. Then the unit got really cranky and it only ran for 10 seconds before stopping. I turned on the huge air condition in the living room and left the bedroom door open. Chalerm didn’t see the problem but I can’t sleep in 30 C.

I asked Chalerm to inform the building managment about the recent development. Chalerm refused. They can speak English, said Chalerm. Only a little English, I said. Chalerm went to his office.

The maid came and wondered if the arrangement with the fan and the open living room door meant the air condition was broken. Clever girl. She called the mangement. Chalerm had informed them already, they said.

A real air condition service team arrived. They were three men and a boy. They carry enough equipment to start a factory. They are working now. The boy is cute.

Once it got to the point that I threatened to move out and the building manager here gave me another room to sleep in until it was fixed- now when I complain about the aircon they get on it by the next day.

I love reading about your life. Does that make me a sad little gay man?

Hope the air works better soon. 30 C is no fun.

Be a happy little gay man, sir.

Sing if you’re glad to be gay
Sing if you’re happy that way

    They fixed the air now.

That friendly little bot called Adsense has come to your aid, too, posting helpful ads about spiral ducting, fittings and accessories. They might be useful for fixing an air con…who knows?

Just back from my trip to the Philippines.
First advice is DO NOT go in SUMMER. It was 33-d C and I wondered why I was baking. I finally realized that is 90-d F. GOD!!!
Second advice is check the AC when you check. I had a two story condo in Davao. Downstairs AC worked great. Like my GE Refrigerator in the US. So cold my Pinoy boyfriend was complaining. But the upstairs AC SUCKED!!! I complained to the front desk and in no time at all there where two guys removing it from the wall. In came a unit from another condo. Worked great. I slept well, in spite of my BF’s complaining that he was freezing!!! I just gave him an extra blanket and told him to snuggle closer…

My AC story: I knew what was wrong, the receiving sensor was broken but no one wanted to listen to me. One said it’s the remote control after spending about an hour taking it apart and another just by-passed the remote and said I can put it on and off from the fuse box, easy, it’s now fixed. On and Off what else do you want? Never mind that on is is too cold and off is too hot, it needs a thermostat! After a week of this go-around a real AC tech came and fixed it in all of 5 min. for 200B total.
