Hey, nice blog! I have noticed that the greatest lookers are all Japanese here. What am I doing in Thailand? Do you know what Japan is like for a foreigner to live in, or even if its possible? I know they have a super relaxed attitude toward sex and have VERY liberal laws unlike here where everybody seems so uptight lately. Is is that the Japanese don’t accept foreigners so readily? I’m really curious if anyone knows anything about this. I’m more than ready for a change, but I don’t want to jump out of the frying pan into the fire!
Hi. I have done a bit of photography and I should warn you that half the trick to make a boyband star look fab is a skilled photographer, good light and professional makeup. This is where Thai models often fail.
Now to your question about Japan. I have never been there, but maybe a reader can answer.

Well, I know a FEW things about Japan.
1. From browsing a Japanese gay magazine: the “go-go bars” in Japan advertise openly, and even publish the prices of the bar-hosts (no “expected tip” here). It’s something like one hour $300, two hours $500, overnight $800. No those are not baht those are US dollars. This is Japan, remember, the place where a night out can cost $1,000 or more.
2. From a friend: this friend had a gay friend who had been living in Japan for several years, and then decided to visit Thailand. Thailand blew his mind: “the men are so much more handsome here!”
Just my own observation: there are good-looking guys all over East Asia. I have been most impressed (so far) by the Chinese in Hong Kong, and of course the guys who live in My Home Town, Chiang Mai!

I was in Japan once, staying w/str8 friends, did
alot of sight seeing. My gaydar was not working
evidently. There are clubs, saunas, discos, bars,
escorts, just like everywhere else. . . .only more
costly for everything ( I mean everything) than
Thailand. We didn’t got there as my J-friend is
str8. I did see many very cute J-boys.
Japanese people are really nice, and J-boys I’ve
known (not gay ones) were super sweet and nice
to me. You could fall for one of those K-Tun boys
for sure. Yes, it is possible to find a J-boy like those pictred, but due to the cultural differences “getting to” them is another question….
If you are young and hot looking, well….maybe you can get something going(in any country, eh?)….I don’t think you’ll find the scene in Japan to be like in Thailand at all. They have their own ways.
By the way, J-boys do visit Thailand, so you can
meet both.

There is a thriving gay scene in the Shinjuku area of Tokyo, many bars, a couple of saunas & some rent boy establishments.
I agree with you regarding the cute appearance of Japanese guys.
However, Japan is of course a wealthy country, so it’s necessary to rely completely on your charm to get a bf or pay 10,000 ~15,000 yen for an hour’s company.
Worth a holiday in the first instance.

Of course, I’m sure your charm will suffice, after reading all the recent blogs.
On the last visit to the sauna in Shinjuku, there was an exceptionally cute little guy cruising around without a towel. That alone almost justifies a trip.

sure there are gay men in Japan, but your gay-dars may often get really confused by straight boys who like to dress-up. traditional Japanese beauty concept circulates around the type of person who’s as asexual as possible, hence all ‘bishounen’ business, and girly-looking boys who don’t have to be gay at all (hmm… do I need to mention Johnny’s Ent.?). still, to ‘catch up’ (whatever it means) with the world after Meiji and especially after WW II, Japanese have adapted a lot of western ideas, often without giving it much thought. thus, you can never be sure what kind of reaction should you expect. another thing is that even engaged in a gay relationship they might not think about giving up marriage at all. and even if they are, their families, companies, friends and generally the society (and mind that Japanese are crazily society-conscious) may cause them to get married. from cultural point of view, all Japanese should be bisexual. which is obviously impossible, but a good thing to keep in mind before you give your heart away.
you must remember Japan is not Thailand. you won’t be that rich, they won’t be that poor. you won’t meet money boys at every street corner. even if law is liberal (to say the truth I don’t know how it is in fact), there will probably be less people who openly display their homosexual preferences. (this is JUST a stereotype and you may NEVER meet people who actually think like that but still: being gay -> having no kids -> the society will have to take care of them for free when they get old -> how shameless of them to put THE society in such a situation).
Japanese are indeed not to open with foreigners. they like tourists, but not ‘intruders’. it is hard to get Japanese citizenship (maybe not that hard like it is in Thailand though) and if I’m not mistaken one must be married to Japanese… it doesn’t leave many options for gay people I guess. I suppose there’s a way to win their hearts after a while if you remember about all the little things from extremely good manners (in Japanese sense of course) to throwing right trash on the right day. if you seriously think of moving there, probably the best thing you can do is to befriend one or two Japanese who live in a place you chose before actually going there (try www.japan-zone.com ) and asking them way to many questions about everything. just don’t overuse them - they will probably think of you as of their responsibility (sort of ‘this is my foreigner and I have to make sure he doesn’t do anything stupid’ way of thinking) and even lose their jobs due to attending your matters. oh, right. them being work-a-holics is not a joke. the laziest group is university students - they do posses free time (I suppose housewives are out of interest range now). the worst person to try is a salary man (usually a desk emplyee of some big company who doesn’t necesarrily do much at work but spends days and nights at his company nonetheless) or a high school student before exams.
now, that was looooong. but I’m sure that’s not all, so gentlemen, please correct my mistakes and add more advice

Regarding the great looks of Japanese boys:
it’s not just the ones in the boy-bands that may have been all gussied up for the photo shoot; its vast numbers of them. Their proportions are great: they zig and zag in all the right places. Even in their p**n that I have downloaded here and there for free from the web has such fantastic looking boys and I’m usually not into p**n that much which I mostly find pretty awful! I agree that these Japanese boys are hot, hot, hot, and I too would love to hear from someone who visits there. Thailand boys are starting to wear pretty thin on me and I could use a change, but like the other person who wrote, I don’t want to jump into the fire without knowing how the landing might go? (Or even where to land!)
Anybody have any info? Please?
