26. Duff in DJ Station

Duff did not give up his search for a good decent Thai boy. He went to DJ Station disco again. Duff arrived as the ladyboy was doing her show on the stage. The Thai crowd thought she was incredibly funny. Duff understood neither the language nor what was so humorous about an overweight transvestite. He used the opportunity to go to the 2nd floor to get a good view of the boys.

Duff spotted a few candidates. One was young and had striped shirt. One was a little older and wore a red shirt. Another one was dressed in black and standing in the stairs.

The last act was a monologue by the skinny monster woman with the bad hair. When that was over the music started and the lights began to spin. Duff pressed himself through the crowds towards young striped shirt boy, who was dancing by himself in the corner next to the stage. Duff passed by the boy and made sure he touched him long enough to be noticed but without resorting to groping.

Duff stood nearby and watched as the boy danced. The boy got more energetic when Duff was his audience. He danced for Duff without looking at the farang, his face in another direction but with the boy watching Duff from the corner of his eye.

Duff thought the boy looked even better up close. The boy was short and thin. He had the body of a boy, not a man. He wore his hair half-long in the neck and his face was heart-shaped. He had the Thai pointy nose and mid-brown skin.

This is still awkward, thought Duff. I am 35 and I still can’t chat up a boy without feeling like a clumsy fool. I hate to be rejected. What if the boy snubs me with all these people watching? Ok, they are not all watching me. But it feels like they are. Look over here everyone! Dandy Duff is trying to pick up a boy! Will he get eggs on his face once again?

The Thai boy danced closer. The butt shake, thought Duff. This is promising. What a cutie he is. And now he bumped into me without looking in my direction. He pretends not to see me. That’s even better. But someone must break the barrier and make direct contact. It should not be done too soon or I will appear pushy. If I do it too late the boy will give up on me and find someone else. I can’t expect the Thai boy to take the initiative. I am older and he is younger. I must take the first step even if it ends in disaster. Here we go!

- Hello, said Duff.
- Hi, said the boy.
Panic. What do I say now? thought Duff. The name. Ask about his name.
- What is your name? said Duff.
- Chalong. What you name?
- Dandy.
- Daddy?
- Dandy Duff.
- Daddy Dup?
- Yes. Where are you from?
- Chiang Mai. Where you from?
- England.
- Oh. England. Vely good.
- How old are you?
- 21.

This conversation may not look advanced but in the thundering music both parties had to yell, and even so guess what the other person said in response. Duff pointed up in the air, the local symbol for “do you want to go upstairs with me?” The boy nodded. Duff went first, ploughing way through the crowds that blocked the dance floor and the stairs. Chalong followed him, discreetly putting his right hand on Duff’s back.

On the 2nd floor they stopped in front of the bar where there was a free spot along the rails. Duff motioned for the boy to come forward to enjoy the view of the dance floor below. Duff, being taller, stood behind the boy. Somehow it felt natural for Duff to put his hand on Chalong’s shoulder while watching the dancers below. Duff became aroused from the body contact and from seeing the bare skin on the boy’s neck. He was so close he sniffed it. Ah, wonderful sweet boy smell.
