77. Only money
Larson met Bjorn at an S& P restaurant on Silom road in the evening. Larson didn’t feel like telling Bjorn too much about his Lek problems, but he needed to air his worries too.
- Here is the situation, said Larson. Lek has a visa for Germany. He can stay for three months. He will stay with his Dietmar creep. Dietmar is paying for his ticket and Lek has to rent his butt out to local men to pay Dietmar back.
- Will Dietmar take all the money Lek makes? asked Bjorn.
- Only to cover the trip and food, said Larson. When the ticket and food is paid for Lek can keep the rest.
- How much does Lek expect his profit to be? asked Bjorn.
- 100 000 baht if he is lucky. German men are as desperate as Swedish men, I hear. He will have an ad in the newspaper. Cute Thai boy seeking generous men.
- How generous of Dietmar not to charge rent, said Bjorn.
- Lek has to pay his rent in Dietmar’s bed, said Larson.
- 100 000 is a lot of money for a Thai boy, said Bjorn. I can understand Lek is tempted even if Dietmar isn’t the nicest fellow in the world.
- Lek is under pressure from his brother, said Larson. The debt to the loan sharks is now over 50 000 baht. When these animals add 50% interest every month it quickly adds up.
- Germany will be Lek’s solution then, said Bjorn.
- But I don’t want to watch this, said Larson. It is unsavoury.
- Hold it, said Bjorn. Don’t tell me you want to save Lek from prostitution. Don’t tell me you are another farang knight on a white horse coming to tell a Thai boy what is best for him.
- Lek doesn’t like Dietmar. He doesn’t want to go to Germany. He is afraid.
- How do you know that?
- Lek said so.
- You are naive, said Bjorn. Where did Lek learn German? How does he know Dietmar? Lek has been in Europe before but he doesn’t want to tell you.
- I don’t think so, said Larson. Lek is truly dreading this trip.
- We have been through this before, said Bjorn. I don’t think your boy is as innocent as he wants us to believe. And there is nothing you can do. The boy has the visa and he needs the money.
- He is not going to Germany if I can help it, said Larson with a determined look on his face.
- Oh no, said Bjorn. Don’t even think about it. Are you bonkers?
- It’s only money, said Larson. I can afford it.
- If you carry on like this you can’t afford it for much longer, said Bjorn. Don’t do it. Please. It won’t help and nobody will thank you.
