I have walked past the Gay Conspiracy Internet cafe for more than a week now without going inn. Today I saw the Chinese owner inside. I wonder if he has noticed I took my custom elsewhere.
I don’t miss him or his bad BO. I don’t miss his jealous brother either. It turns out most of the familiar customers from their Internet cafe are in the Straight Internet cafe too. Actually they spend more time here than with the brothers across the soi. Only a few loyal customers (probably their sugarbabies) never cross the soi to the competition.
In the straight place the management do things the Chinese brothers would never do, such as running around with a spray bottle and a cloth to clean keyboards and monitors. This must be why the straight place is running full or nearly full all the time. The service is good and there are no drama queens here.
Gay boy spotting: Anyone playing the dance game “Audition” is a suspect. Anyone wearing colour-matched clothes and carefully chosen accessories is also a suspect. A pink t-shirt is a giveaway. I look for long fingers and fem hand movements. Makeup makes it obvious. Also worth noting is who is friends with who, as gay boys tend to stick together.
If someone gave me a stipend I could do a thesis on the gay percentage here. Is this the famous 10%? Or is it, like someone claimed, more like 20% in Thailand? More field work is needed to find out. I will use a hands-on approach.
The ladyboy-in-training is always happy to see me. I haven’t had the honour of sitting next to him for a while. He seems to be one of those fem boys who are hungry for affection and attention.
I saw one of the gay gang boys outside. He was one of the seven who took part in a grand assembly last week. He was also the cute one I tried to say hello to. This one had fallen off a motorbike since last time. He had burn marks on the chin and on the side of his face. Luckily it doesn’t look deep. It will heal. But there was also something strange about his eyes. Did he hurt his eyes? No, he had not. On closer inspection it was eye shadow.

Your field work is much appreciated. But further research has to be done. Luckily, next month I will be in Bangkok myself and therefore be able to bear a share of the burden.

I trust you will use the total immersion bottom-up model.

Thank goodness help is arriving for your academic research. Please do a little to help me in my own studies, if you can find the time and the inclination. I need the following answered, or I won’t sleep:
1) Are Thai boys contributing to global warming?
2) Do Thai Black Boys glow in the dark?
The hands-on approach does indeed sound like the best way to go about this; close-up is always best; but do remember to take your comb.
