I am making progress with my Thai. It is like I have reached a new plateau, with the old knowledge from my classes with the teacher popping up in my head again.
Chalerm is doing reports for his university class. He is also rehearsing English language role-play. In one of them he is working for Air Asia and taking bookings on the phone from a tourist going to Chiang Mai. I play the tourist.
Chalerm is 23 soon. He has matured enough to actually teach me some Thai without losing his patience with me. To him it was incomprehensible how I could not repeat and remember a Thai word he already had taught me – not to mention my horrible pronunciation, which made him laugh. When he got too cocky about this I reminded him gently that maybe his English was not perfect either.
