It is like the Waldorf Astoria. Almost.
I spoke to Chalerm on the phone.
- How are you?
- OK.
- Where are you?
- Somewhere in Bangkok.
- Do you want me to come home now?
- Up to you.
- Are you at home?
- Stay with friend.
- Who is looking after the fish?
- The maid.
Maybe he means what he said. Or maybe he means: “I have moved home but I say I have not to tease you and save face.”

Sybil the receptionist who tried but failed to kick me out of the hotel due to overbooking is in a bad mood. She doesn’t smile anymore and gives me a grumpy frog face. She has stopped saying “good morning”. She no longer calls me “sir”. She only speaks to me when she has to.
Everything is my fault, of course. How dare I make her lose face with her boss? I should have taken it without protest and slept on the street, like a real man.

I went to sample some Malaysian food at 1am. Kentucky Friend Chicken must have originated in Malaysia. This is why there is one on every corner.
This KFC is rich in alternative lifestyle people. There were three ladyboys, one gay boy and outside sat a moneyboy tried to get my business. He had two friends who were probably on the game too.

The rules about good deeds and punishment for them are the same in Malaysia as in Thailand. I bought a pen from a supposedly poor woman at an outdoor restaurant. It was ten ringit and I thought it could do no harm to help her.
But then they came one by one, put their goods in front of me and refused to leave. I was the only person this happened to. She must have told the others “gullible foreigner on table 4″.
It is a Parker. It looks real. I wonder where they stole it.

I feel stressed. I had forgotten when my flight to Farangland was. I thought I had a week in Bangkok before heading west. But no. I will have 24 hours in Bangkok and then I must get on the next flight.
Is my head failing? I need something to blame and I choose the ticketless system. The travel agent only gave me a flimsy print which I lost. I remembered the dates I wanted to travel on, but had forgotten that the flights I wanted were full and I had to change to earlier dates.
In Farangland all the affordable big city hotels are full when I arrive. Rental cars are all booked. But they could get me a tiny one.
Farangland weather forecast: bright and sunny

Chalerm forgave me for only having 24 hours in Bangkok but reminded me that school would start again next week. Hint hint. New school uniform, hint. Books, hint.

So there was a 24 hour reunion with Chalerm prior to your return to Farangland. You haven’t commented on that, so I suspect it went well…

Just in time, to dole out money to him… he planned it well. Smart is knowing where he needs to be.
