Eduard is right that Chalerm should rather have saved up for a laptop computer than borrow money to buy it.
I suspect Chalerm will get tired of paying the 1200 baht every month long before he has paid it all back. I don’t want to bail him out if he forgets to pay and someone comes on the door to reclaim the computer. This is his first credit purchase. Now he can try it and see how it goes.
I am hardly any better myself. When was the last time I saved up for anything? But I am wary of buying stuff on monthly down payment schemes. The payment goes on long after the thrill of the new toy has subsided.

Chalerm isĀ teasing me for my flight simulator game. His computer was bought for serious reasons, says Chalerm, not for playing games. His serious computer use is mainly to chat on the Internet with his friends.
Chalerm came over to my desk with a web camera so his friend in the office could see the farang who played airline pilot as if he was a 10-year old.

A new boy sat next to me in the Internet cafe yesterday. He played a car race game. I had this blog up. The boy saw my shirtless male models and (in a moment of inspired insight) he figured maybe I was gay.
Much flirting and posing followed. He whispered something to another boy. Both pulled up their shirts so I could admire their bodies. We exchanged knowing looks.
I don’t know those boys. But they appear to be spellbound by my charm.

Teach Chalerm how to pull of some financial scams such as floating “mortgage bonds”. It takes years to catch on. Or maybe that is what he is already doing?
