The presumptive Democratic party nominee for President of the United States has pledged to work towards the elimination of discrimination against LGBT families if elected.

Barack Obama was responding to a letter from Jennifer Chrisler of the Family Equality Council.

“Gay men should not have to marry a lesbian like I did just because they want a family and children”, wrote Obama.

Greetings from American Land: Barack Obama represents an incredible move forward for all kinds of people - especially gay people — as he moves beyond the tired-ass ruling class of white, heterosexual, Christian males who have held dominion over us for far too long. Cynicism and negativity are, of course, the easy routes to traverse, but living here it’s clear that there is an undeniable and vivid current of change.

Strange what he wrote: ‘Gay men should not have to marry a lesbian like I did…..’ .Does that mean he’s gay?

    *sighs*

    Oh dear.

loris, the writings on this page are called satire. :)

Click the link to Pink News UK and read what Obama did say. He is being very supportive of gay rights.

Hahahahah. I guess I am a cynic … I rarely believe anything I see in print until I have checked it and then cross-checked again.

    Take care, Yraen.

I’m really surprised by Obama saying that. I mean i don’t think it will get him the gay vote (he has it already) and he will lose some conservative people with such a statement… Nevertheless i’m really happy that finally some politics get involved on that question!

I think your sense of humour gets lost in translation somewhere lol

  7. Kevin Says:

Yraen, i think this is irony rather than satire.

SF, I figure you should try selling some of these guys Jimmy Hoffa’s watch! It could be a while before customers this discerning come your way again! ;P

If it was true!!!!! Kevin Rudd of Australia said some lies and has back flipped on his rights for Gays and Lesbians. Leaders of the world are born bullshitartists.

Very interesting page of comments. “caucazian1″ clearly can’t be bothered to read the details, but submits a piece of canned propaganda. Also, I suspect, his first posting ever on this forum.

Other people swallowing the satire whole, as if they really believed that Jonathan Swift meant people to eat Irish babies.

Beyond all that: wouldn’t it be a hoot if the Democratic primaries in 2008 turned out to be a gay man versus a lesbian??

Just waiting for the memoirs to come out….

  12. caucazian1 Says:

    Hi Jaafar,

I’ve posted on this website before and as far as submitting a piece of “canned propaganda” as you surmised, I absolutely understood the irony inherent in the posting and was simply offering a viewpoint from the U.S. on what it’s like to be in a mighty maelstrom of exciting changes. Might you be too jaded to see that? -

  13. Rowan Says:

Politicians are stage actors. I would not vote for Obama, not with what his ex church pushes.

  14. caucazian1 Says:

His “ex-church”? Might I deduce that you are not in the U.S.? See my comments on negativity and cynicism.
