Pattaya hotel room service

hotel-sign.jpg
I go room you

When walking up the stairs to my hotel room in Pattaya I heard insistent knocking. It was a Thai boy who kept knocking on a door. Nobody opened the door but that didn’t stop the boy, who obviously suspected someone was in there.

I walked past the boy and went to my room. The knocker stopped and followed me. Without a word he slipped in when I unlocked the door.

Not bothering with any formalities and still without saying a word he went to the fridge and took a bottle of whiskey.
- Don’t do that, I said.
- Why? asked the boy.
- I have to pay for that. It is expensive.
The boy put the bottle back. Then he threw himself on his back on the bed, fully dressed. He scratched his belly and looked up at the ceiling.

I put my bag in the closet, opened the door to the corridor and turned off the lights.
- Where you go? asked the boy.
- Out to eat.

The boy left the room when I left it. He did not ask for any money. He went back to the place where I had found him and began knocking on the door again. I heard the sound of knocking as I walked through the reception and out in the soi.

I have read your your blog for the last year and have enjoyed it a great deal,
but i want to ask a question why you feel the need to go to sin city as you call it when you seem not to take advantage of the opportunities that the city gives?

Pattaya is known as Sin City.. Like Las Vegas… note to self for late 2007:)
    but probably try Phuket though

It is an easy weekend trip from Bangkok. Pattaya is one of a kind in the world but I usually get enough after two or three days.

People say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.

What happens in Pattaya stays in Pattaya?

  5. Christian Says:

    sure why not!

One can look but not touch. That’s what I do. And the looking is good ! :-)

It also helps with keeping the more beligerent boys / mamasans at bay - “Me good boy. Have boyfriend Bangkok.” They might try to tempt me, but they soon realize that I am indeed that rare species, the faithful boyfriend.

That’s what you get for staying at the Cum Back Hotel.

    UPDATE:

A tout came over to me in the soi and pointed out the boy who had briefly visited my room. The young man was hovering nearby and the tout reminded me of my budding friendship with the whiskey-loving boy and said I should take him back to my hotel for something more substantial.

    I said no thanks.

I must admit, I hate Pattaya with a passion.
Bad hotels/resorts and worse transport system!
This story is kinda scary, a Thai boy slips past you at YOUR hotel room door and makes a beeline for your mini bar……..sorry, I would have to have headed him off at the pass!
I hope I don’t encounter such behaviour in Chiang Mai next month.
Bankok will be ok ‘cos I stay at the Tarntawan Place always. (Good Security)

I handled him softly and in a “Thai way” since he looked harmless. If I had distrusted him I would have stopped him earlier.
