I received my new visa from the Thai consulate here in Penang, Malaysia. The Indian guard/fixer at the consulate is the same one as always. He doesn’t age or change. Constant chain-smoking keeps him young.
I think he could tell I was going to write “Mother Theresa” in the guest book, as he was hovering over me telling me “name!”, “nationality!”, “passport number!” and “signature!”. It is also possibly someone has used the guest book to state their opinion about Thailand’s new visa rules. They would not like that.
I went to Komtar centre to have a look at the boys. I found a few gay ones, including one with a girl on his arm. But he didn’t fool me. Not with that body-hugging gold-coloured shirt, the fancy hair and the makeup. A gold shirt? Really! There were gay boys in the clothes shops (working there) and in the hair saloons, and some customers walking around. I saw a couple of Chinese fashion queens. Not bad.
It is Friday and I remember how I met Sony the moneyboy on this day last time I was in Penang, and the iman who took an interest in me after Friday prayers. I wonder if the iman will be around. Not that he is my type but at least he is interesting.
I tried to call Chalerm today, but nobody answered. I hope he is in the office as he should be.
I overheard the ladyboys in Chulia street talk among themselves in Thai. I also realised that the girls who hang around with some tall blond backpacker boys are Thai. One of the backpackers pinged my gaydar. He is too pretty for his own good and his clothes are colour-matched. I think he is from Denmark. Let us kidnap him and lock him up in The Babylon sauna. Then we will see how straight he is.

Hi Iwan. We are all confused about the visa situation, and that includes the immigration officers.
I got a 60 day visa now. I can extend it with another 30 days to a total of 90 for a fee.

Permanent residency? In Thailand? Only half a dozen Westerners received that last year.
