Queens galore
This is the new Ibis hotel which the chain is building opposite the Malaysia Hotel in Sathorn soi 1. The blue sign says “Soi Si Bamphen”. The white sign to the right is the mandatory retirement age for moneyboys.
To take this photo I stood in the middle of the road outside the 7-Eleven at 2am. The things I do for this blog.
Expect this new hotel to be full of queens, just like the other hotels in this soi are. The pink baht rules. How this area became gay is foggy, but it may have to do with the Babylon sauna up the road.

Today my glamorous life in Bangkok included a trip to Burger Queen on Silom road. It was hot in there, hotter than on the street. The place has gone from filled with smoke to being without air condition.

This is a website dedicated to the cheaters, liars and frauds that wait for unsuspecting tourists in Thailand. It covers the gem trick, the upstairs bar extortion, the fake boy scouts and more. If you are new to Thailand this is essential reading. If you are an old hand you can read it for the entertainment.

I had been to Bangkok Bank on Silom road in the afternoon and was walking up the street. I passed soi 3 and the Pilot pen shop on the corner. I saw one beggar person sitting on the left side of the pavement, and a woman and a child selling lottery tickets on the right side.
As I walked past the beggar I saw him wave his arms and say something. I was looking and walking straight ahead and didn’t turn or look at him. But I followed him from the corner of my eye and saw that he was on his feet, talking and waving and walking in my direction.
