My new friend in Jakarta
I wish I knew the identity of my new friend the corrupt pig Jakarta policeman. Then he could see this photo of himself when he searched for his own name on Google. But this was my first shakedown. If there is a next time I might get more out of it.
Nobody in Jakarta have mentioned the crackdown on gay people which I posted about in this blog a while ago. It seems the locals don’t know or don’t care. Or maybe it was in a limited area? Read the rest of this entry »

Jakarta by night
How did I end up in Indonesia again?
I was going to Malaysia for the August visa run. I had bought the tickets and planned to stay away for a week. But when I made hotel reservations on the Internet I didn’t get any reply. So I called and they said they did not reply because they were full. (Hello? Did it occur to you that the customer might like to get an answer, any answer, so he can make other arrangements?)
I called other hotels and they were all full. They said Malaysia had a school holiday and it was high season for domestic tourism. I found some hotel rooms available on the Internet, but they were over my budget. Read the rest of this entry »

Monas Jakarta
I had lunch at another Indonesian cultural icon, Pizza Hut. I tried to determine if any of the male staff were straight but they all seemed to be screaming queens.
A few hours later I felt sick. I tried to ignore it but I only felt worse. I went to the bathroom and the pizza left me the way it had entered.
After splitting with the pizza I felt better. I brushed my teeth carefully, had a nap and went out and about again.
This evening there was activity at the park. Most of the boys looked like Rough Trade, possibly armed, certainly dangerous. But a few, in a lighter spot, looked interesting. I asked the taxi driver to let me out so I could investigate on foot.
I could swear I had seen two boys but now I only saw one. The other guy had vanished like he was swallowed by a hole in the ground.

Homoseksual Indonesian
I could not sleep and watched Indonesian television till sunrise. For a Muslim nation there was a lot of cleavage and female legs on display, in particular in the music videos.
In the boyband category Tegoshi and Masuda came on. And I enjoyed the dubbed version of Sponge Bob. What a queeny voice he had. Have you heard Sponge Bob is a homoseksual?
The cute boy was still in the filthy Internet cafe. He played Warcraft all weekend, day and night, while smoking cigarettes. Read the rest of this entry »

The place to be at 5 am
Friday morning at 1 am. The morning flight seemed like a good idea at the time. But now I could not sleep knowing I had to get up at such an ungodly hour.
3.30 am. Get out of bed. Shower. Kiss Chalerm goodbye. Give him money to last while I was away.
4.10 am Catch a taxi.
4.50 am Arrive at Snakepit Airport. Stand in line. A long line. Get nasty stares from a Fat White Cow (French) and her husband.
5.20 am Check in. Almost denied because I was “late”.
6.00 am Take off.
9.20 am Arrive in Jakarta.
