The case of the crazy Italian and the wooden penis
Pattaya One 22. August 2008

A bizarre case now from Pattaya Police Station. In the early hours of Friday Morning, Tourist Police, based on Walking Street, brought in an Italian National accused of placing a wooden penis over the mouth of a Thai woman.

Mr. Francesco Munaretto aged 45 from Italy and the offending item, a Buddist Penis Amulet which is a religious object normally crafted by Monks which date back to the 8th Century A.D, were taken to the Station.

They are thought to bring good luck, however on Friday night the Penis Amulet owned by Mr. Munaretto led him straight to the prison cells. A complaint was made to the Tourist Police from Khun Pairin aged 19 and Khun Quantar aged 20 who claimed the man had thrust the wooden penis in the face of Khun Pairin after he had asked her if she was a man or a woman.

At this point the Tourist Police were called in who took the man to the Police Station. He was uncooperative throughout the investigation and Police decided to place the man behind bars for the night to give him some time to contemplate his actions. He was released the next morning with a warning.

Falling

Pattaya Mail wrote yesterday that tourist arrivals in Sin City are down 30%. Since Thai authorities don’t like to publish bad news or negative statistics things must be grim when they admit this. Read the rest of this entry »

No illicit activity here, sir

Patrons of Sunee Plaza in Pattaya were treated to a major show yesterday as 70 boys in brown stormed the area in an effort to clean it up for good.

“Pattaya’s new mayor, Mr. Itthipol Khun-pluem and Pattaya Police have decided it is high time that illicit activities were eradicated and a good reputation be created for the city.”

Sunee Plaza

Reading about the shooting in Sunee Plaza I wanted to see a map of this (in)famous gay area in Pattaya. This one is good and it looks up to date. It is written in Foreignish but this is all the German vocabulary you need to read it:

Empfehlung = recommended (in yellow letters)
Geschlossen = closed (in red letters)

Other establishments are in black. The stars given should be self-explanatory.

Old technology, same message

Pattaya Mail reports the fuss Thais made over the last day of telegram service in Thailand. After 133 years the telegram service has become obsolete, replaced by email and all that.

Thousands of Thais showed up on the final day to send commemorative telegrams.

The very last telegram sent from Pattaya was from “Noi” to a gentleman in Finland and the text was as follows:

BROTHER ME MOTORBIKE ACCIDENT I NO MONEY EAT

In tsk tsk news, a report in Pattaya Mail that these two ladies of the second category were caught trying to steal a gold necklace from a Russian man.

It was him

This photo is from Pattaya Mail. The newspaper reports that the Thai boy in the photo tried to steal a motorbike from the foreigner who is standing behind him.

As the shallow person I am I forgot about the story and looked at the boy instead. The article says he is 19 and from Ubon. Cute?

Don’t touch it

A while ago I wrote about some boys i Pattaya who spent 150 baht every day on having their hair done. Jos has a nice example of this labour-intensive fashion.
