Golf and Mike
Golf and Mike don’t have that sweet image they used to have when they were stars only in Thailand. Can’t say they look innocent now. The baseball thing is gone too.

Another evening in Straight No Conspiracy Internet cafe, and another police raid. This time the cops were in plain clothes.
Still they were easy to spot as police officers. For a start they carried two-way radio sets. And they behaved in a loud and obnoxious way, as if they were masters of the universe. Read the rest of this entry »

I see my name is mentioned over at Sawatdee Forum, as an example of a farang who is a 7-Eleven customer and therefore contributes to the death of the small family-operated shops in the sois.
In my soi we have both. We have the 7-Eleven, bright and clean and air conditioned and open 24 hours. We also have the traditional shops. How do they compare? Read the rest of this entry »

Cash
The last thing I did before escaping Bangkok for Songkran was to give Chalerm a list of things to sell.

I have discovered a new type of energy. With oil prices high and global warming and all panic this breakthrough should get me a Nobel Prize.
So far I have only tested this on my maid, but it seems to apply to other Thais too and maybe to humanity in general. Read the rest of this entry »

Consumer happiness
My interest in photography is back. Now I look through old digital files on the computer and bring them up to see them again in the full glory of the 24 inch screen.

Making fun of Thailand
This site is not gay, but it is about Thailand. In mock newspaper format it presents fake stories from Thailand. If you know this country you will recognise the “news”. The ads are satire too.

Chalerm wants plastic surgery to his nose. He told me this while sitting on top of me in the sofa, as if he wanted to control my potentially violent reaction to the idea.

This is a website dedicated to the cheaters, liars and frauds that wait for unsuspecting tourists in Thailand. It covers the gem trick, the upstairs bar extortion, the fake boy scouts and more. If you are new to Thailand this is essential reading. If you are an old hand you can read it for the entertainment.
