Conclusion after my trip?
Udon Thani was not much to write home about. It was clean, tidy and boring.
Vientiane was also clean and tidy, but not so boring. They had no 7-Elevens but they had French restaurants. They had no gay bars but gay boys kept popping up. They had no shopping centres but why would you need one?

I met another young Lao boy. He was sitting by the fountain, the cruising spot in Vientiane. I will call him Fashion Boy, because that was what he was.
Fashion Boy was happy to talk to me in Thai. His way of dressing, his hair and his makeup made him about as straight as Richie Stringini. He was good looking and as with many Laotians I thought he appeared more Vietnamese than Isaan.
- Do you want me to show you around? asked Fashion Boy.
- To where?
- The disco.
- Let me think about it.

To go from Udon Thani to Laos:
1. Take a tuk-tuk to the bus station in Udon. 30 baht.
2. Find the bus to Nong Khai. Only if you have a Lao visa already can you take the bus direct to Laos. Most people don’t have a visa. 48 baht.

My first time
I am planning my trip to Laos. This will be my first time to Isaan, and to the city of Udon Thani. A lot of the boys in Pattaya are from Udon Thani and next time I can tell them that I have been there. The boys speak highly of Udon Thani.
