I saw an old friend on the street yesterday. This was khun T. When he was 20 I took his shirtless picture.
He loved the photos and gave me 200 baht to pay in advance for prints that I made for him. This gave me a new and rare definition of “moneyboy”: a boy who gives me money.
Khun T. was always a cute, sweet and friendly person. When I met him in a shopping centre he was a freelancer. He was flirty and cuddly when I brought him home but I told I paid him to pose only. So he posed.
When friends see those photos they say he looks straight. I agree, even if he is gayer now than he used to. I never quite figured out what he is. Maybe he is straight but gay looking. If he really is straight this did not slow his career at DJ Station or in soi 4. I like to take some credit for the boost his business got when he used my photos of him in personal ads on the Internet, shirt off, belt loose and jeans partly opened to reveal some underwear. He was sexy and those photos made a difference to his finances.
An Asian man also took photos of Khun T. This was a more daring variety. The photos ended up on the Internet and I showed them to khun T. He was shocked and embarrassed and I regretting telling him about the website. The Asian photographer had paid khun T. the obscene amount of 20 000 baht for the photo session but it didn’t occur to khun T. that this meant the pictures would be published. Khun T. had probably signed a model release without understanding what it was.
Khun T. had a Thai-Chinese boyfriend for a while. I ran into them when they were shopping for the room the boyfriend was setting khun T. up in. They were in the electrical appliances section at Robinson Department store and khun T. thought I should pay for a fan. I declined.
Later I ran into khun T. in my neighbourhood. He explained he had a farang boyfriend and that they lived in a condo. Khun T. didn’t want to talk to me on the street in case his boyfriend saw us.
The farang boyfriend lasted for a while. I didn’t see khun T. soliciting during this time. I only saw him near the building where he and the foreigner lived.
But yesterday I discovered that khun T. was back as a full time pro. He had joined one of the massage places and I saw him with a group of other boys working at the same place. They were all dressed in identical t-shirts. Khun T. was the best looking of them. He is mid-20s but he still has a boyish charm.
Does this story have a moral point? Not in particular. It is just about a Thai boy who is making the best of things, improvising, jumping from one opportunity to the next. I always liked him. He is a nice guy.

I for one believe its time that you put your creative efforts toward finding “Black Boy” and give him a boost up on his career path….
The world will be a better place….

I am sure Black Boy’s mother has warned him about men like me - that if he runs into a gay foreigner he must not let him get away.

Reminds me of a guy a met on the beach at Pattaya. Yes, money boy, but not a direct transaction and he was so nice and such fun.

Andrew,
I remember back in 1981 in Bangkok when you gave them money they were shocked! It wasn’t that it wasn’t expected…it was just WOW! I also remember one night a bunch of us went out to eat after their buddies had performed in a show and you should have heard that conversation! They really rated us by nationality! It was hilarious to hear their stories and all for the price of beers and somesort of pizza…
