The Mansion
I have put off writing about my “discussion” with the building manager because it is a depressing subject. It went as I expected. She was super-polite yet managed to tell me that leaving Chalerm home alone was a disaster.
This building is pretentious. They only accept farangs and East Asians. No Thais are allowed to live here on their own, only if they stay with a foreigner. The management always looked down their nose at Chalerm. He is not good enough for them, and they think he will bring riff-raff into the building.
Chalerm did bring riff-raff into the building while I was away. The suspected mobile phone thief was one of them. He is 19 years old, sissy and his name is Oat. That leaves about 10,000 boys in Bangkok to check.
Chalerm blamed the building management for their for-show-only security cameras and asked why the guards didn’t keep the thief’s ID card. Thus he caused the manager to lose face. No wonder she hit back by blaming Chalerm for letting in dubious people.
Then there was the c*ndom. The maid had found a used rubber and reported this shocking fact to building management. My investigation revealed that the Prince of Khon Kaen had been in the guest bedroom, getting a bonking by his boyfriend one afternoon. Good for Prince, I say, and how sensible of them to put on protection. But the c*ndom story was presented as if my apartment had been turned into Sodom and Gomorrah while I was away.
Chalerm admitted to taking friends of various sorts home, and to having a party and drinking beer. Oh well. It could be worse. They did not make any noise. Nothing was broken or stolen, apart from that phone.
There was some confused talk about 3,000 baht in cash missing, but I think that must be from the previous theft episode, six months ago.
But I believe our apartment got a bit too busy while I was away. I told Chalerm he could not do this again, as we get in trouble with the building people. I don’t feel comfortable with it either, as I have many episodes with Thai guests in mind, going all the way back to the first weekend Chalerm was with me and the XL ladyboy who fell through the window.

Hi, JC. Not all mice will play, but the tendency is indeed a strong one!

Parties, beer, condoms and something lost. Sounds a lot like the behaviour of myself and mates when we were around that age. Could have been worse.
In fact, not unlike the behaviour of myself and mates even now when we get the chance! hehe

Next they’ll be reading your mail! Skip that, Thai’s don’t read!
It must have some thrill to be the source of gossip in the building.

Dear Silom Farang,
Please, please tell us that you’re not so naive as to buy that story about the condom belonging to PKK. That’s one of the oldest lines in the handbook - “Oh, that condom isn’t mine, not a result of my infidelity; it belongs to Friend X who was here borrowing the room with his boyfriend…” My last boyfriend didn’t fall for that line; and you’re alot smarter than he was, so you shouldn’t, either!
