Thai boys and Beethoven

Snob value

Shirtless Thai boy pics are in short supply nowadays, as I can’t use the scanner at home without a computer. The computer repair people promise daily that they will do something by the next day, and don’t do it. I am going down the road of unexplained delays and broken promises.

Do you know any gay culture snobs?  The gay culture snob is the sort who will claim he is reading books by authors nobody has heard of, and tell everyone he listens to music so obscure you can’t buy it in regular shops.

I want to be a gay culture snob. Here is my first attempt: I have a video recording of a concert which took place in Croydon, England on the 8th of September 1969. It was Leopold Stokowski conducting the London Philarmonic Orchestra. They played Beethoven’s 5th and Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony rather well.

The snob value is helped by the age of the recording and the fact that both Beethoven and Stokowski are dead. Only dead artists are truly great artists. I found my copy as a Japanese release on DVD in Bangkok. Please don’t tell the riff-raff that they can buy it on Amazon too.

What people are doing:

The ladyboy-in-training was last seen riding his little red motorbike against traffic in a one-way soi. He had two passengers and no helmets.

My pet enemy, the Dumb Brother in the Gay Conspiracy Internet Cafe, smiled at me today for the first time ever. Or rather he laughed. He laughed at me, not with me. I had taken my sunglasses off and he saw my black eye. What a malicious little prick he is.

Chalerm and the boys are still watching videos. There were four boys in The Mansion when I left, and Chalerm said two more would arrive soon. The two are the Air Force cousin and his Air Force friend.

I told Chalerm that the rate in The Mansion Hotel is 500 baht per Thai boy per day. At five houseguests that is 2500 baht. Not bad.

Ehm, did I miss the attempt or is talking about itself the attempt already?

  2. Silom Farang Says:

I hit “publish” by accident when the post was only half finished. It is your own fault for subscribing to my RSS feed!

By the way: Schubert is also dead…

  4. Silom Farang Says:

It was inconsiderate of Schubert to die before he had finished the Unfinished Symphony.

Sometimes I read this blog to my partner and we both have a good laugh because of your wit. You personality is sometimes similar to his sarcastic irony, and your words make him howl.

I read your blog religiously, but only share certain tidbits with him, so he asked me what your apartment was like that it attracted so many boys to visit constantly. And .. I was at a loss.

I could only tell him that I didn’t really know, but that this was my impression of it:

That map is close. But our apartment has three bathrooms, one for each bedroom plus a squat toilet bahtroom next to the kitchen. It also has a living room of some size. The landlord claims the apartment is 150 m2. I haven’t checked if that is true.

Actually the “Unfinished Symphony” is finished. Simply it has only two parts, which is very confusing to the most people, who are used to the creations of the other classical composers.

But there are no rules, telling how many parts a symphony must have. There are even symphonies, especially some from the Haydn and Mozart times, with only one part. No one comes to idea to call them “Unfinished”. :-D

So, now you can spread this knowledge among Thai boys and anyone else, who don’t want to hear about it, which helps you enormously with your gay snob role. :-D

If it’s not enough, then speaking about Haydn you can mention, that his full name was Franz Joseph Haydn, but he never used his first name. After this information you will be out of any other gay culture snob’s reach ;-)

  8. loris Says:

And if you want to elevate yourself more in the gay culture, you can even talk about Gustav Mahler symphonies that will get them your attention for sure.He has an unfinished symphony also, no.10 completed by Deryck Cooke. Ah, the wonderful world of classical music.

  9. Silom Farang Says:

Sibelius, anyone? The entire “Finlandia”? :)

  10. loris Says:

    The entire Finlandia?

  11. Silom Farang Says:

    I quote from finland.fi:

“Finlandia is probably the most widely known of all the compositions of Jean Sibelius. Most people with even a superficial knowledge of classical music recognize the melody immediately.”

  12. loris Says:

I would venture to say that ‘Valse triste’ is better known than Finlandia,as it is also a shorter piece.
