The ever busy people in Thai government have decided to take on immoral behaviour on television.
Thai soap operas show people behaving in immoral ways, thereby leading the young of Thailand astray. The government has come up with a solution to this problem. Viewers must be warned against such scenes. A quote from The Nation:
Scenes showing men with mistresses, gambling and drinking alcohol will carry the message these actions are either “punishable by law” or “against good morality”.
I expect Thailand’s social problems to vanish after this bold initiative. Husbands will become faithful and sober, teengers will stop fooling around and hi-so ladies will quit gambling.
Thai television is already obscuring bad or illegal things in their shows, such as cigarettes and guns, both of which are turned into blurry blobs. This is why actors are seen smoking blobs and pointing blobs at each other in crime scenes. “Give me the money or I will fire my blob!”
And the classic: “Is that a blob in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?”

Thank god they are not censoring lightsabers yet. Else it’ll really wreck the Star Wars movie marathon on Star Movies.

The soap producers are no doubt esctatic. Nothing sells quite like having your product labeled ‘bad for you’.

The logic is obvious.
Young kid’s attention will be attracted to ‘the blob’ and therefore they won’t be curious or tempted to try one when they see them for sale in 7eleven will they?
Don’t some Thai policemen wear blobs on their belts? Better wrap them in a blurry blob bag then.
There must be an over-sensitive mother working in the Govt.
Sorry for the rant, but we get over-politically-correct politicians producing over-reacting namby-pamby regulation here in farangland too and it drives me nuts. Grrrr.
