Since an el-cheapo power supply for the PC will cost you US$40 and the highend ones go for US$100+ and macinto$h always costs more than its worth, I figure you're getting the following deal: a US$50 power supply, rebranded for the mac makes it $75 and they're charging you the price of the part again for plugging it in. US$150 is about $4500 baht, right?

Alternatively, you could tell them no and take your mac back, buy yourself a screwdriver, buy a power supply for the mac for $75 and do it yourself. If it doesn't boot, return the power supply to the place of purchase and convert the mac to an aquarium.

Just remember red is ground.

That is more or less what I told them to do. I hope they got it.

Love your turtle neck sweater.

Your iMac's symptoms do sound rather like a power supply beginning to struggle as it's on its way out, and then the juice eventually dries up altogether.

A new PS should be a stock item. The shop should be able to unplug the old PS and plug in a new PS without pulling the whole thing apart, and thus tell if it's going to solve your problem.

And if you tell them that's what you want done, they'll know you know what you're talking about. Then they're less likely to try to screw you.
