Worth fighting over

Get Angkor too while at it
War might break out between Thailand and Cambodia over that obscure temple Preah Vihear on the border, but you don’t have to worry. Any war will be short and victorious.
May I suggest you brush up your language skills to wish the troops welcome. Lesson one: The Khmer word for farang is barang.
Thailand has a proud military history. In World War II Thailand resisted the Japanese for an impressive four hours, about the same time it would take the Cambodians to drive to Bangkok now. Thailand also had the rare honour of surrendering twice in World War II, first to the Emperor of Japan and then to the Allies.
Confusingly Thailand was on both sides in World War II at the same time, something only Thais can get away with.
Today the Thai army is a mighty military machine with over 600 generals and about the same number of battle-ready privates.
The Thai air force, which is mainly occupied with flying important people around for free, should have received new jets from the Russians in exchange for Thai bird flu chickens but this deal fell through. For now they will fly old American jets if they can find spare parts for them.
In addition to patrol boats the Thai navy has an awe-inspiring aircraft carrier. It doesn’t have any aircraft to carry but let us not get petty. Everything is ready for war.

Be careful with your remarks, you may not get a rentry visa. One of the 600 generals may be stationed at Survanaphum.

That would be a police general, not military. I think there are even more police generals.
