I saw in the newspaper that most Thai female immigrants to Farangland give their work experience in Thailand as “waitress” or “hotel staff”.
I guess there is some truth in that. Most of them have spent considerable time in establishments where customers can drink and maybe eat too, and they have stared at the ceiling in many a hotel room before meeting the farang who took them home.
This goes for 80% or 90% of them. A few ones actually were tourists guides or office ladies or teachers in Thailand or even waitresses.
There are some Thai boys too, brought in by gay men. Some of these have an amazing sense of timing. No sooner do they have their papers to remain in Farangland than their declared love for their sponsor cools and they are out the door. Who can predict the heart? These boys can.
A number of the Thais, both boys and girls, continue their careers here in Farangland. This may be with or without the consent of their farang husbands. But social workers, officialdom and the media know that Thais would never do so voluntarily. The Thais must be victims.
If anyone is at fault it is the bad white man who brought the Thai person here, is the official line. Thais are never lazy, nor impressed by easy money, and they would never lower themselves to do the kind of “work” for which they are world famous.

That is so true “love for their sponsors cool…and out the door’ I am not surprised at all. Not only Thais do that.Does one ever really believe a Thai when he says ‘I love you’?

Loris, you had a Thai say he loves you? It took my ladyboy almost two years to say that. But when she said it, I knew she meant it.

lucky you gmac - hope she still does. My boy slammed the door shut on his way out 2 1/2 years ago. Saw him recently and he’s losing his hair. He was so vain. That’s my only comfort.

Lucky you gmac…you never know if they love you for what you bring to them, or if it is really for yourself. It is so easy for them to say these words. They will say anything to please you.

Yes, Loris, I have found true love in Thailand with a Thai boy, so please don’t be negative or cynical; he was not met in a boy bar ( surprise!) or any place where sex is for sale, and for many years now it has been a mutual exchange of kindnesses. We travel together, go out together , share life together, and I have never felt once that he had any interest in using me, all themore so as his background is wealthier than mine.

Not all Thai in “farangland” are as you say.
There are many middle class Thai who paid their own way and many now have British passport, good job, and own business. Most are honest decent except for some rotten apple politician….

> Once again, you have chosen to besmirch the reputation of Thais

I deleted this comment to help Mr. Real Thailand keep his promise to leave this blog.

Hmmmm; so it’s ok for you to make condescending comments about the people in the country where you have chosen to live but not ok for a right of reply? Censorship of different ideas is not healthy, SF.
