Wild in Bangkok

Gremlin
Strange dinner habits

The Prince of Khon Kaen came and rang our doorbell at 5am. I let him in and he went to sleep. Yesterday he came at 9am. Then he also went to bed and slept all day.

I am not sure if this works. Does Prince live here or does he not?

Prince is supposed to have his own room at Ramkamhaeng University. I have tried to ask Chalerm but I am not getting any answers. It is time for a 3rd degree interrogation.

In (very) domestic news The Mansion first ran out of water, and then of toilet paper. I don’t know which is worse. Why I am I the only one to buy supplies? The boys go past the shops in the soi more often than I do. When I ask Chalerm he is aware that things are running out. Does it occur to him to buy new stuff? No.

When I came home at 8pm and entered the reception area of The Mansion a brown furry thing appeared and ran between my legs and out at such speed I could not see what it was. It looked like a gremlin. Do they have gremlins in Thailand?

Next the furry thing came back at the same incredible speed, again choosing the route between my legs. The animal had turned back because the security guard was coming. The guard must have noticed the commotion.

The gremlin turned out to be a wild cat, and I do mean wild. It hid in a corner by the lift, assumed attack position and stared at me like I was a fight-to-the-death enemy. I was glad it wasn’t tiger-size.

When I went over to the lift and pressed the button the cat felt trapped and tried first to run through a glass wall and then to climb up it. This didn’t work and the cat decided to risk all against this human who was so determined to eat it. The cat ran by my legs again.

I left it to the guard. I would not want to capture this animal with my bare hands.

Later I saw the cat in the soi, dining on garbage. It’s a jungle out there.
