Bangkok this morning
The cool season officially began on the 1st of November and brrrrrr how cold it is. Thais are already wearing jackets and ski hats and gloves. It is 30 C in the day and 22 C at night.
Night temperatures may fall to a freezing 18 C in December, and a nightmareish 16 C has happened once or twice while I have been in Bangkok. Thais roll over half dead just hearing about it.
Since I grew up in a place with snow - real snow, not amusement park snow - I can help the Thais with their winter preparations.
If they need help building igloos for slum dwellers I can bring in the needed expertise from Greenland. Do they need to handle polar bears running wild in Lumpini park? That will be taken care of.
Lessons in skiing, ice skating, ice bathing and snowboarding can be arranged. Thais are already skilled with Finnish saunas - we have nothing more to teach them.
The mystery is how Thais, with this sensitivity to temperate weater, still insist on taking cold showers. They turn off the heater and shower in tap water. I can’t do it. I want my showers hot. When Thais ask me why I say I come from a place where it is cold enough as it is without cold baths.

My bf is here with me in Canada and loves the cool Fall weather. However he is not too happy with the bitter cold Winter weather we have some days.
