Noodles are tasty. But can you trust them?

Chalerm has turned into Younger Brother Noodle. When I came home he was at the noodle stand in the soi, selling food to people who passed by. Mother Noodle was sitting at the table, watching him.

Chalerm doesn’t get paid to do this. He does it for fun. No wonder the Noodle family loves him. I have on the tip of my tongue “If only you were so eager to do chores in our home”, but I don’t say it.

Chalerm enjoys talking to customers. He is the born salesman. Chalerm is in his element when he can chat up strangers and convince them to buy something. I was listening as guy stepped off the bus. He said he came from work in Pratunam. He was on his way to his home in the Rama 3 area. The guy bought 25 baht worth of noodles. Maybe he bought more than he had intended to because Chalerm charmed him into it.

When Chalerm graduates he should get a service job. He could be a receptionist or a sales person or a tour guide, some job where he can smile and show off to a never ending flow of new people. It should not be the same people all the time - he would get bored. Chalerm loves to make a first impression.

I don’t eat a lot of noodles. Noodles are nice but slippery. I never quite know where I have noodles. They make me feel uneasy, as if they are secretly plotting world domination. Sure, they look innocent but you never know.
